Installed Ebay front strut bar

Bought an Ebay front Strut bar.

Was somewhat iffy from the pictures on Ebay, but the quality was much better then I expected, especially for the low low price of $30.00 shipped.

I took it apart and painted to match the rest of my accents in the engine bay.

If you don't already have a strut bar and don't have the $100.00+ in your bank account for the Stillen strut bar, I highly recommend one of these. Even if it doesn't work as well as some of the name brand ones, it still makes the engine bay look fancy.

yeah, thats why i wanted one in my engine bay, to have something cool to look at. it serves to keep the front end from rolling on sharp turns or i would take it out cause its in my way. everytime i have to do something near the back i gotta take this damn thing off to do it, and mines got some rust from age. might get a stillen for the heck of it.

r u sure??? i swear alot of people buy $hit for looks instead of functionality. and i see no mention of this "AND looks cool under the hood" sentence.

"I highly recommend one of these. Even if it doesn't work as well as some of the name brand ones, it still makes the engine bay look fancy."

Meaning: It works, but probably not as well as a Stillen, but still adds function and form.

Regardless if I bought it for the way it looks, why do you care? Why else would you retro projectors into headlights, replace amber corners with clear corners, etc? All of those things are considered Form > Function. They worked fine the way they were but we replace them or "upgrade" them to make the car look better.

The soul purpose of me buying the strut bar was for function. I even notice a slight difference around right hand corners. The fact that it looks good is a bonus. I painted it to match the scheme and everyone that's looked at it in person so far thinks it looks amazing.

But this is a forum, and haters are gonna hate.

Uhhh, your logic is flawed. Idk how you can think a HID retrofit is purely for looks and is simply form>function....

I completely understand a Retro is not completely form. It's a much better light for the road. Bad analogy. Regardless, I think I made my point.

Your strut bar sure looks good.

I see nothing wrong with improving the appearance of functional parts.

Just so you know that bar is not exactly the correct one. That one is really for a 3rd gen VG. A 4th gen bas is supposed to have bends so it clears the intake. I suggest moving the EVAP purge valve so it does not get cracked. Its happened plenty of times in the past. Its the round plastic thing next to the throttle bracket.

That's kinda stupid that they'd send me a 3rd gen one. I can see what you mean though. In a week or so the EGR, Evap, and all that other stuff will be removed. I'm doing the IV00 swap. Don't want any of the emission crap to go along with it. Something tells me this strut bar won't fit with the 00VI so I'll put it on my 96 i30 and just buy another bar that has the bent ends as you mentioned.

IMO any strut tower brace with "end links" is a fail, regardless of manufacturer. It should be rigid, otherwise your just adding a lateral that will still allow movement.

exactly, mine is a 1 piece that does'nt allow any movement. forget the brand, but i had to move the egr foward as stated previosly cause when i tried to close the hood it stuck up through the hood.

yes they perform just as well. The people who paid $100 for their piece of steel will tell you no but they are just angry they got ripped off In reality you could make your own if you had the tools and it would be comparable, its a steel bar that braces the strut tower. its not rocket science

Time to split hairs but Stillen's is aluminum. Cattman's is titanium. Plus most of the Ebay specials are aluminum as well. You are correct though.

I've owned a handful of strut bars, they all do the same thing which is probably nothing. I just think Stillen's look infinitely better. I don't feel ripped off having name brand parts. I'm happy to spend more on a better product. Plus if I buy itused I can usually sell it for the same or more money.

^^^Very true...
Guess you failed metals class, not metal but aluminum...
Some of us here have money to burn on a Stillen, I've been able to see a difference after install, plus it looks good & doesn't break any evap components under the hood.

I had one on my old GSX. Can't remember name of it, but it connected both towers, plus hooked to the firewall. Definitley could tell a diff.

I have the same EGay one, anyone know if anybody makes one like I had on my GSX?
Or would that be a custom fab type of deal

Yea thats where the more expensive ones excel. In looks. There is a wide strut brace on ebay that looks really nice as well. Of course with higher prices you probably also get a warranty. What I was saying is the end result is the same. As long as it properly braces the struts then it serves its purpose

Nothing was mass produced for the Maxima but there were triangulated strut bars for the A32 Cefiro.
http://www.ultraracing.com.my/Bars.asp?ID=2508
RHD, but it may fit with minor work.

Interestingly enough they actually make some nice parts for the A32 and A33. Check out ebay, there are a few parts available at pretty cheap prices.

That does look nice. I'd just be afraid of it not fitting with a 00VI swap. The 00VI Upper Manifold sits higher then the USMD intake. Something tells me that one would be a close fit. I'd hate for any engine rocking to bang the manifold on the strut bar.

Modern Warfare comes out and everyone thinks they are a sniper...

Too many people on the org have gone from helping to flaming. How often do you get anyone, long or short term member, who went/have gone out, did/done their best, and tried to make it look good and work well? Initially he seemed pretty humble with his response to your inflammatory comments. W/e, at least there were a few with something nice/helpful to say or add.

my 0.02 - looks good and should still retain some function, dependent on how you installed it.

Oh and mathematically and grammatically speaking, he said that retros were more form than, function not all form and no function as you indicated. Disagree with him all you want but flaming him for something he did not say (intended or not) is, as you would say, "retarded".
