I'm even worse off since I had a 1st gen Stillen Y, scrapped it for a WSP. Those 2 purchases could have easily gone to headers and should have. Even more proof and how much I regret my decision and stand by my word.

Only thing that pushes me away is, you have to spend close to $400, modify them to fit. $400 is halfway for an average priced VQ35. But, of course, that isn't a simple task either. I'm also a very indecisive person as well.

Remember that you also have to modify the vq35 to "fit". Cam spacers, adjustable fpr or a dek fuel rail, etc.

I wasn't speaking about an engine swap. I was speaking about headers and exhaust in general.

ShockandAwe man, u been here awhile

Check the link:
http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...hread-yet.html

All your questions are answered in there and its a great read

EDIT:

i agree with others, suspension first if u got the cash. If not, then get some bolt ons for exhaust and intake. Headers do make a differnence, they just a pain to install.

  4. cattback
Turns out this is the exact order I will go in lol. You cant tell Im dropped in my sig? Installed coil overs and KYB AGX's the other wknd. Just need the OEM boots now

I dont think my car could handle the HP that comes from a cover....esp with the hello kitty design that is probably on yours

Anyways lol, I went through the stickies casholt and a ton of the links are broken and werent specific to my exact question of which to do first for power as well as emissions safety because I dont care if I make 500fwhp, If I cant pass the test then Im screwed and I dont wanna spend a day re-installing the stock exhaust just to pass a 5min test you know?

I suppose that my questions have been answered and Headers will be the way to go. Good quality headers are hard to find. There is the easy Ebay ones that are "stainless" but those aren't quality I want. Any ideas on a name brand headers I could get? In the end I will probably end up getting
1)These OBX Headers and Y-Pipe http://www.dragtimes.com/parts/OBX-E...789962187.html
2)Greddy muffler if sold separately if not the the full catback

Not sure if I appreciate the sarcasm, but I'll chalk it up to assumed ignorance about the product I'm actually talking about.

Have a look:

And let me know if you'd like one.

lol my bad I thought you were joking and meant an actual cover for the tire, like cloth or something. Ive seen that thread, good idea and good craftsmanship. Nice you offer it to others for a good price. I actually have a full size spare on mine and modded up my own MDF board to fit in. I actually bolted the sub box to it with door hinges as well to keep the box from moving and bouncing. It bad for acoustics to have the box moving around but im sure you know this

Edit: After looking for good prices on these OBX headers I re-read the exhaust thread and found out they arent direct fit....grrrrr. How much modification is necessary? I still havent heard from Cattman yet so hopefully soon. I want to support him but Im terribly impatient. A fatal flaw of mine...

IIRC Some grinding of the crossmember or rear motor mount at the most. Some people have gotten away with no grinding at all.

I gotcha. Me and my mechanic friend work on **** in his yard with hand tools. So no ompressors for us lol just long tubes for leverage. I dont live in the north so Im hoping rusting of the bolts on the headers and y-pipe wont be that bad. We shall see. If it comes down to it Ill just hack em off and and replace em with more quality bolts. The front manifold isnt hard at all its that rear one thats a sonofabiabia. Well see, every install is different as you all know

Well Ill be ordering something on the 20th so If I dont hear from hi then its his loss I guess. Something tells me he has one laying around....I just wanted to support him bc there are so few companies that specifically make parts for the maxima. OBX makes nice ones anyways

For now Ill just get the OBX headers and y-pipe and that should be fine. With the stock cat back it shouldnt be overly loud and Ill still get the performance that I want with none of the drawbacks of drone or bee hive sounds lol
