'96 Bose Radio display does not lit up

Has anyone ever come accross it? My Bose radio is malfunctioning- sometimes when I start up the car the display does not come on. the little light indicating that the CD is in lights up fine. Also, sometimes it's dim and when I press on the display it gets brighter (normal). But when there is no light whether I press or not does not make any difference.

What can it be?

thanks
Roman

I just got a 96 SE the end of dec. The other day i noticed the same thing as you...radio still works find but the display is off. Today I noticed something even a little wierder...I turned my car on this morning, and the display was off, but after 2 or 3 seconds, it came on. So i bakced out of my driveway, started driving down the street, and noticed the the display was off again. not sure how long it took to come back on after that..

i think the display is has gotten loose from the circuit board behind it... I give a tap to the plastic around it, and mine lights up again. I'm going to wait until summer to open it up. But i'm sure it's just a loose contact.

Yeah, it goes on and off sporadically... i am thinking that maybe it has something to do with the cold weather- i.e. it went on after the car warmed up once, but I am yet to see a pattern.
Sometimes it's very dim and tapping/pressing does work, but sometiomes it just fades away...

On the similar note, how easy is it to take it out/tighten the loose end?

Thanks
