Problems with keyless entry programming

Hey guys,

I've been trying to program my keyless entry remote since I got my Maxima (1999 Maxima SE) a few months ago. I have a remote, and I know the car has security. My question is, does having the security piece mean you have keyless entry? I know they were part of the convenience trim, but I don't have the variable intermittent wipers that are part of that package, but I have the security part for sure. The guy who gave me the car also gave me the remote, but said it wasn't programmed.

So when I unlock the car, sit in it, close the door, lock it and try putting the key in 6 times within 10 seconds, nothing. No hazards flashing at all. However, maybe I'm not understanding correctly. Should I see the two green directional arrows flash on? Or the literal hazard lamps on the outside? Is my car's keyless entry fried/relay broken? I'm not sure which ones to look for. I mean quite honestly, the car might not even be equipped with keyless entry.

you should make sure you have keyless first, look in the relay box on the passenger side where the keyless entry relay would be, if its in there you have keyless entry. If its not in there nothing will happen. Yes you will see both your turn signals inside the car flash(similar to turning on your hazard lights) when you have entered programming mode. I have a 00 SE and programmed it on the first try.

I'll look for this tomorrow (when I have some light!) but isn't it pretty much when you have security, you have keyless?

Is the relay labeled as "keyless entry"?

I just went through this whole process. Look in the relay box, passenger side under the hood. On the lid is a diagram showing where it will be. As far as getting into programming mode, if its not going, check the sensor in the door jam and make sure it is still working. Its just a black pushrod but mine was broken and had to swap it for the passenger one to get the car to realize that the door was shut.
