Tranny Acting up

Hey All . . . Its been a while

Well I have a 96 SE Automatic and all of a sudden I have a problem wih the tranny starting off in second gear or something like that.

What happens is . . I put the tranny in drive and when I press the gas it takes off real slow like as if it is starting off in 2nd gear and not first gear. But then you turn off the car and start it then it goes away until you press on the brake again

Anybody ever ran into this before?

if theres no codes it may not be a solenoid related issue that doesnt rule it out though.

your valve body my have some crap in it i suggest dropping the pan and replacing the screen and pan gasket. if a nut on the screen just "spins" i hate to say it but you have to remove the valvebody but we will cross that bridge when we get to it. make sure you clean the pan really well and clean up those magnets. if you drop the pan do not freak out the magnets are probably like furry little animals. thats normal. fill the trans with nissan D matic only these transmissions are picky to what kind of fluid they use see if that solves your issue

when its acting up if you hammer it does it downshift

I too have this same problem, car starting off as if in 2nd gear and not shifting, my OD light not coming on, my abs, brake light, battery charge lights are all on. All these issues started after my battery went totally dead, could this have caused this problem, ie computer needs to reset?. Not trying to hijack this thread, but since I have this same issue figured I would piggy back.

Start by replacing your battery remember you hav an electronically co trolled transmission if you don't have the juice you could have all sorts o issues

All symptoms of a dead alternator. Are you charging? In your case it may be a low voltage issue. Have the Alt checked under load.

You might be on to something here, after installed a new battery still under warranty I started the car, then I remove the positive cable with car still running as I wanted to see if the alternator was charging, the car stayed on but ram very rough couldn't even accelerate. Could this mean I need a new alternator, also could the fact that I disconnect the pos. Cable caused the issue the Tranny issue
