lock and unlock beep?

yes I searched and all I found is how to wire the horn to honk when you lock it. which is not what I want. my gf just bought a new 2012 Sentra SR and when she pushes this black button on her door handle, the car unlocks and makes like an actual "beep" noise. what is this? and would it be possible to put on our cars? how would I do it? thanks

Good question. Gonna watch the thread to see how it's answered. Kinda curious to know myself.

our cars are 10 plus years old, so adding a beep is up to the individual. personally i like it quiet.

Your car was built the year I graduated high school.

The beeping (chirping) sounds from newer cars are just a different type of siren/speaker. You COULD probably find a way to make one of them work...but I'm far too lazy for that when there are plenty of good alarm systems with sirens that chirp.

yeah I'm gonna give that link a try. I really wish our cars made some sort of noise when we locked it. so that's why I wanna add something mellow. something I can hear, but don't have to **** everyone off from how loud it is.

As long as my hazard and rear corner lights blink, I'm good.
I've seen people push their lock button multiple times just to make sure its locked and the *beep* *beep* gets annoying. My girlfriend is one of them

My remote broke (the key ring not the actual remote) so I went old school and I lock/unlock with the key. This way I never lock my keys inside my car...

I agree that the *beep*beep* gets really annoying...

On the side note, anyone have a nice oem remote they wanna sell me (gotta have the trunk release though..)

EDIT.. I just checked and I have bag full of switches/relays and a buzzer my bro got from radioshack that they were going to toss out(yes toss out because the packaging is old) so...

I like an audio beep (although not so much a shrill chirp :-). Trying to see if the lights flash on a bright sunny day is past difficult and a waste of a sense.

Here is a diagram that has been on the org for years. It adds a beeper the the flashing lights that happen only when you lock the car. This diagram calls for a buzzer, but you can put in anything you like.
