Who Has/has Seen Most Mileage On A Max?

Just wondering who has seen the most mileage on a maxima!?? I chatted with a guy once (I think he was in Texas) who was approaching 300K on a 3rd generation Max. What's the most you guys have seen? I'd like to know how far a Maxima can really go....

My 92 was pretty new when my family bought it. I ended up with the car in 96. The car was a demo, so you know it was pounded on. It had about 3-4k mile son it. I havent had any real problems, just basic maintenance. Its still on original tranny & engine (knock on wood). This is my "beater" as i like to garage my 99.

there are a a bunch of people with 3rd gens at 200k miles +.... Some with 250k. And still going.... Most 4th gens didn't have time to reach that many miles because you can only drive so much.... but since the 4th gens are generally more reliable then 3rd gens.. I would definately ossume the 4th gen is capable of 250k-300k miles easy..

It is a lot of miles for a 97 I replaced the trans and the CV joints at 205,000 miles. Other than that, nothing. I have never missed a service interval and I only use Mobile 1 in the engine and tranny.

I have had my 96se 157,800 miles since it new, i flush my cooling system every 6 months (distill water, redline water wetter, prestone coolant),tranny drain/refill every 5,000 Amsoil Synthetic ATF (filter/gasket/pan cleaning every year),pcv valve/nissan fuel filter every 7-8,000 miles, and oil/oil filter every 6,000 miles (amsoil 0-w-30, amsoilSDF-13). I had to only replace my alternator at 115,000 miles,starter/ignition switch at 156,000 plus miles. I use nothing but super unleaded (Texaco/Sunoco Ultra 94). I am now ordering "new" cv joints from www.raxles.com. Oh and i clean my throttle out on a regular basis, and i add Chevron fuel system's cleaner every 30 days, and i use 2 bottles of their fuel injection cleaner twice a week (800-1000 miles per a week), i don't care for stp. From what everybody has been posting about theirs at 200,000 plus its just amazing! These cars are well worth the time and money especially when you can modify them! This is my second maxy and i must say that i am pleased! Happy New Year and Good luck!

I have 75k on my '96SE 5Spd. Not much, I know, but I've had it only 1 year, and it had 47k when I bought it. That's 28k, for those who are too lazy to do the math... :P

I have not done any unusual driving this year (not like 2 years ago when I drove my taurus 3k in 3 weeks once...). I live out in the middle of East Bumf**k, and I have to drive at least 50 miles round trip to reach anywhere worth going. (ie work). So, I'm gonna be putting nearly 30k on this car every year. I certainly hope it's reliable! We're off to a good start. By the end of this year I'll be past 100k.

scruit, if you keep up the maintenance and just drive but don't beat the pig s##t out of it it will serve you well, since you have a 5spd be sure to keep that gear oil good (regular changes). My 96se is as extremely quiet and the transmission is excellent. Just buy good products for your machine and maintain. I cut the maintenance schedules that the dealer specifies by up to 75% (1,000 miles per a week) you can't beat the costs and protection for your machine! Best Wishes!

I've got 104,000 miles now on my 1996. I do frequent oil changes, use a bottle of fuel injector cleaner 1 a week, use at least 92 octane gas. Haven't seen any change in gas milage still runs like new.

make sure that the fuel injection cleaner specifically states that it is safe for cats/oxygen sensor. I use Chevron's Synthetic fuel system cleaner every 30 days and I use Chevron fuel injection cleaner twice a week (1,000 miles per week). I replace my fuel filter every 7,500-8000 miles (nissan oem). Stay away from stp products. 96se auto,Amsoil 0w-30, Amsoil SDF-13 oil filter Amsoil ATF, Redline Water Wetter coolant additive, and Dunlop Sport SP 5000's. Gas mileage 475-500 plus miles per a tank, i have been all over the country ! Oh and original fuel injectors/fuel pump. Best wishes!

My car only has 6800 km now. I'm not sure what the highest mileage has to do with our cars as other cars are equally good at achieving 300 000 km with their original engines. My brother's Cavalier is just getting to 300 000 km and looks like it will keep going - forever. The thing that gets me is that he didn't do a lot of maintenance on it either except the usual expected repairs; struts, brakes, tires, mineral oil changes, and spark plugs.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy our Maxima.

Maxima Mileage

I've got a 1999 GXE with 130,000 miles. My last Maxima was a 1992 GXE that had 289,000 on it when I collided with a table on the interstate (the table fell off of a small truck in front of me). After the accident I retired that car. I've done routine maintenance stuff to both and have never had a single days engine trouble out of either (Knock on wood).

My 98SE has 105,000 miles.

I bought it brand new on August of '98. I am determined to drive my car until the frame rots. I still got 2 more years of payment left and it's already got 100k. lol.
When I reach 300K, I'll let y'all know.

FAIL. There's a current ongoing thread about this exact topic in the general Maxima forum.
