Need a new Cluster because I broke my speedo tryign to fix the odometer. lol
SubscribeYeah well. Lost one to get the other I should say. haha, It was totally my fault. Anyway my Odometer **** out about a year or so ago and it would sometimes turn on and off and have weird tetris like things for a while and then back, I would some times hit it and it would change or go back to the normal numbers well after a while hitting it wouldn't fix it. So I decided the other day to rip it out and take a look at it see if there is a bad connection or something lose I could solder up.
Well it turns out there was a bunch of corrosion on the LED's contact points. I cleaned those up a bit and while trying to take apart the rest of the gauge I shifted the servo motor for the Speedo. I was bumming. I put it all together and noticed yeah, It is broke. lol. Thankgod I have a standard though and I pretty much know what speed I am going in each gear but my question is this.
How hard is it to find a digital cluster for these cars with white face? And if I can snag a digital one, Will it set to my mileage or that gauges mileage? I would think it is a ECU related but honestly, Probably not. because my Trip reset when unplugging everything just not the actual mileage.
Also 2nd, If I have too, Will an analog one work? I would hate to get a poopy analog one but I only have a few junkyards around me and I am just so depressed looking at my car not having a working speedo it makes me feel like it is turning more into a piece of poo

You will need on specifically for a 98 or 99. The analog ones will not work for you without swapping wire harnesses. I am pretty sure your mileage will not be correct on a new cluster as the ecu will not change the mileage iirc. Good luck finding an se gauge.

Ask for Aaron.
The mileage stays w/ the Cluster, but there are people out there who can reprogram clusters, I dont know any off hand but I've heard of it being done in multiple instances.

In the 5th gen, the mileage for the odometer is stored in a 8 pin dip IC on the instrument cluster printed circuit board, type 93C56EN. There is a good chance it is the same for the 4th gen. If you know how to solder, you can swap the chip.

In the 5th gen, there are different dash cluster printed circuit boards for the different years but they all used the same chip, just in different locations.
