problem with power steering pump belt install

When I tried to remove the PS pump belt it got snagged on a bracket that is between the oil pan and crankshaft pulley. This bracket also has a wire running into it. When I looked at the CS pulley I saw that it was contacting this bracket, which from comparing to other pictures I saw that this was not normal. I would upload a pic that shows this, but this post will not allow me to add attachments for some reason.

My question is how do I get the CS pulley off this bracket so that I can remove the PS pump belt?

Thanks

you have to upload the picture to Photobucket or something like that and use the embed link to post it in a thread or forum. Only mods and paying supporters can have attachments.

The bracket your refering to is the CPS (REF) sensor. The pully should not be touching that. If the pully is touching it, either the bracket/sensor is now broken or bent or your pully outter section where the belt runs has seperated from the isolator.

A picture might help us. A shop manual will help you.

So I looked at the pulley again after posting the picture of it and it does look like it has been separated from the isolater. I also tried to wiggle it to see if it was loose, but it did not move. It makes sense because my car sat outside for a couple of months without being used so the rubber inside the pulley probably rotted. So I am guessing that I need to go ahead and just replace the pulley? Any recommendations?

Find a good condition used pulley or buy the Dorman brand part from Amazon. A new pulley from the dealer is over $200. http://www.amazon.com/Dorman-594-188...2805366&sr=1-1 Autozone sells this, and it is normally in stock...but it'll run you another 60 bucks from them.

You're a very lucky guy. Get a used one as the dealer charges $306 for it.
