New *****?

Guess I can't put p---y in the title.....
After 13 years and just under 190,000 miles the main cat finally fell apart. The flange rotted away causing a sudden leak. The internals of the cat were still fine.
Damn thing was a bit pricy too.

I'm curious to know how much an OEM cat is.

I've replaced my cat with a 240sx test pipe. The original cat has over 265,000 miles. The flange is starting to rust out near the bottom, but not enough to cause a leak.

I had the Walker OE equivalent installed. Parts and labor was just under $600.
There was a cheaper alternative option, YGWYP4

Funny you guys ask this because I am considering replacing mine. The price at the dealership is $860 but it comes with y-pipe. They stated the cat is not sold separate from the y-pipe so it comes as a set.

I am debating to get an OEM exhaust and put couple sprays of high temp paint before installing to slow down rusting. I have a y-pipe I bought from classifieds section but need a good cat to complete the process.

The main cat is available separately from the Y. The Y does have 2 cats of its own, perhaps there was a misunderstanding. On courtesy parts the cat is $570-910 depending on the year. They are all the same size but the 95-96 cats have an O2 bung.

Amen to that. I had a Warpspeed/Carsound cat. It lasted a year or so. It was a waste of money and a whole lot of time. I talked to Dallas. No help from him. The insides came loose and rattled around, which just about drove me nuts. The honeycomb was intact but what ever held it in was gone. I ended up installing the cat off my old B13. It had nearly 200k then.

Has anyone tried ordering it from courtesy? Reason I say that is because although the schematic displays it separate, he still told me that it comes as one unit because obviously he has ordered a few for other people.
