Low voltage courtesy light

I've been having a little trouble finishing my LED interior conversion on my 95 GLE. All the interior lights, door locks, windows and trunk release work fine except for the courtesy light in the drivers door. It reads 6-7v on a multimeter, whereas the working side reads 12v. What could be causing this? It's barely enough to dimly power a 9 SMD panel.

Bad connection/ground someplace.

My car was in an accident before I bought it, the drivers door needed to be replaced, I'm thinking that might have something to do with it. My grounds are all good as far as I can tell, I did the big three and grounded to the strut tower

Easy way to to test it would be to run a length of wire from a known good ground source directly to the light.

Since the car was in an accident, look for splices in the wire harness.
