Starting issue...

Hey im new to this site but not to the nissan world. I got a 98 maxima with a vq35 swap, it was running/starting perfectly fine till yesterday a i decided to clean the engine with some autozone engine degreaser, followed all the instructions... Coverd air filter, and sprayed it down with the cleaner, let it sit for a few minutes and hosed it down (not pressure wash) and now all it does is turn over... Will start if a hit the accelorator but wont stay on, and if does stay on as soon as i put it in gear it shuts off... Your help is greatly appreciated

Try disconnection the wire harness connector and seeing if there is water in any of them. Blow them out with compressed air.

Check the ECU for error codes. If it starts and dies out, the check engine light may be on.

You guys think it could be the alternator since it wont idle... Maybe its not giving 'juice' to the coils to idle and only runs when i accelorate it

Water is in an electrical connector. Check your MAF, TPS, IACV, CKPS, and CPS harnesses for water and clear it out. Also check spark plug tubes. All these parts are essential for car to be running.
