(Solved) P1008 & P0304 Engine Check Codes
Hi,
Just wanted to report back some results. I recently replaced my engine (engine gasket blew) and after installation of the newer engine I had two ECL codes. I drove like that for about 6 months and last week I decided to take care of them. I have a 95 maxima by the way.
The codes were P1008 (Evap Canister Purge Volume Control Valve) and P0304 (Knock Sensor).
I simply replaced both of the parts:
(1) 7.99 knock sensor from eBay: http://bit.ly/IYyY70
(2) Evap Canister Purge Volume Control Valve: http://bit.ly/KmSCqC (Pictures in post #38, the valve is located on top of the manifold). I picked this one up from the yunk yard. I was lucky I could only find one. It came off a car with 270K but still worked perfectly fine for me.
After replacing them, you have to reset the ECU. I watched this youtube video which helped a lot: http://bit.ly/KmT0oU
And that's it, the ECLs are gone after 300 miles after resetting the ECU and I feel good about my car once again. I did notice a restoration of power, especially during acceleration. If someone ever gets this combination of codes, before you do anything else I will highly suggest you do what I did. Hopefully it helps someone in the future.
