Fuel guage goes to half when the car is parked

Hey guys, my fuel guage always goes to the halfway mark whenever I shut off my Max. After I start it up and drive, it goes back to the real amount of fuel slowly. But once I shut it off again, it slowly goes to half. For instance right now I know for a fact there's less than a quarter tank in there, but it shows half when the car is off. I'm parking on completely flat ground too. I'm guessing it's probably something in the tank that's off, whatever part that measures the fuel levels to make the guage move? Not quite sure...

I don't think that's normal either. When I shut off my max, the gas gauge stays where it was when the car was on.

So did my old Max.

Besides, even if everything was supposed to drop, that doesn't happen. the guage will go up to half when it's less than half. very deceiving and could screw me over one day if I forget how much is actually in there.

i would hope if you had half a brain in your skull youd at least remember making this thread and always gauge your gas tank cautiously.

Calm down. What is wrong with you? I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WHO DRIVES THE CAR............

I asked a simple question asking for help. If you're not going to help then feel free to exit the thread. Geez.

It may be your fuel gauge itself. Mine hits top of cluster when car is off but will come down to normal. Replaced fuel sending unit with OEM and problem still persist.
