Just installed camber plates

Got them because I dropped the car about 1.5" and the front tires were were wearing a little funny. Anyone have these? What it the best camber setting. I can't find a spec for the car because it's not adjustable.

An alignment would have been sufficient probably. You don;t really need camber plates unless your dropping the car 2" or more.

I lined it up and everthing was in. I plan on lowering the car more when I get coilovers. Anyway, do you have any specs?

Th idea is that you can use the plates to get back within factory specs when you are lowered. Any alignment shop will have the factory specs...

Re: Just installed camber plates

Get an alignment at a shop that worked with camber plates before. They will know what to do. Expect to pay alittle more than your usual alignment shops. I say anything between $60-$90 is reasonable.

I have an alignment machine at my shop but it doesn't have camber specs for my car.

Perfect. Thats just what I needed. My alignment machine won't give you specs for something that is non-adjustable but will let you manually enter specs. Thanks!

i like the brakes.. $tealin slotted rotors and Axxis Metal MAster pads... i like them.. i know ANDYXXL had issues with the pads.. but i think he had defective pads..

i wish i could afford a big break kit... they make MADDDD brake dust.

i drove my maxima off the show room floor with 3 miles on it. there were 4 red maximas at the dealership when i bought mine!!

LSP was my first meet.. i was overwhelmed... i was like.. "whoa" this is a normal meet? damn..... cause there are only like 3 or 4 org member in my area...

LSP was my first also. I think you were the only Red max there. It's cool to meet up with the people you talk to every day. And it feels goodto know your not the only person obsessed with you car. I just heard something about a meet in Atco but I don't know were that is. I live on Long Island.

COUNT ME ON THE AXXIS METAL $HIT BRAKES HATE CLUB

dude, I race my car and i cannot stand the brakes, they are okay on the first couple of runs, but after that, they're aweful, they fade and you can't brake the car for your life, also, they make terrible noises on the street, and lately I seem to have a problem that if I slam them hard from high speed, after that they make really bad noise when braking???? that seems weird

p.s. I autocross for racing

There aren't too many options out there as far as brakes go. Maybe I'll save up for the big brakes. You auto cross so you would know this. Should I set my camber to factory specs or could I benifit by giving it a different setting?

I would get portefiers, they're 118 group deal on the www.maximadriver.com, not too shaby, my friend who races loves them, also get SS brake lines, I Hear that works well too, I'm installing them in the spring

as for the camber, for street driving, set it to factory, for racing you want negative camber, but even then I wouldn't worry about it

get the portefiers brakes, R4S they are street/racing, so they don't need warming up to work well, but I hear they're awesome

and that's all you should do

and have a shop set your camber plates to factory setting

get the nissan rotors, personally, I don't believe that stillen rotors will give you enough to make it worthwhile getting them, unless you're racing 1/4 of a foot will not matter, save yourself some $$$ and get a stillen sway bar or something

porterfields dust more than ANY pad for the maxima.. they have great stopping power.. but this is their biggest complaint.. YES they dust more than axxis..

my car has white rims.. i have trouble as it is now .. cleaning the wheels every 4 days during the summer.. if i had Porterfields.. i would be cleaning them every day..

i am sure you can find anything cheaper if you look hard enough.. but if you can.. let us know..

Yep, Porterfield's dust like a mother, but they can stop the car from 100+ speeds with no fade(unless running a road course). You can get the front set of pads for only $69 bucks, you don't really need the rear, they hardly do anything. As for the camber, Vinipux is right, go with factory for street driving. If you make the camber too negative, you will greatly accelerate your tire wear, but you'll stick in the turns much better!

Vinipux, those were metal matrix pads you got smoking like that? They smoked so much I thought they were stock Ouch, remind me not to ever buy those!
