a/c issue

So my friends maxima (with automatic climate control) has the classic hot air when a/c is on issue. But nobody can recharge it. They say it will not suck in refridgerant. Anyone know a common cause of this?

My knowledge on a/c and heat is very limited. Just need some ideas. Thanks in advance.

did they vacuum and evacuate all the old stuff correctly? cuz if not then there could be air in the system, or even could not have created the negative vacuum needed to create the suction. and if so then could be the orifice tube being plugged or a bad pump.

My friend says they did "empty" somethibg before they tried to fill anything. Like 32oz came out or something like that, I am told. I guess her mechanic friends should check hoses for clogging?

Have a qualified a/c tech check the system.
A/C is charged by weight from a vacuum state, refrigerent is pumped in, not sucked in.
From there, a trained technician with gauges can see what's going on.

^^ on point but before they even put the gas or "refrigerant" in they should have checked the whole system for leaks or anything that could have been a possible cause.

that mechanic was giving you the round around, probably just being lazy because if all your a/c parts work correctly but the air coming out of the vents just isn't cold then a recharge will solve your issue 100%.

I think taking the car to another mechanic that is trained in a/c is the solution.
