possible bad starter solenoid?
i bought a 99 maxima es a couple days ago, when i first tryed it out it would turn over but didnt start so i thought it was because the battery posts were really corroded, so i cleaned them off and it started fine, today i kept turning the key but the car wouldnt start, took a break and came out a few minutes later and after turning the key about 5 times the car finally started. could this be the starter solenoid?

If the starter isn't cranking the engine, then the solenoid is one possibility. Another possibility is the starter motor itself, brushes maybe. Third possibility is the ignition switch, they do go bad in the Maximas.
Get a volt meter or a test light and connect it to the skinney little wire that goes to the starter. Then try and start the car. If the test light lights or the voltmeter reads voltage, the ignition switch is ok.
