96 Max with no spark On cyl1 only?
Just had a 96 Maxima SE roll into the shop today with code P0301 for cylinder 1 misfire car has 180k on the clock and had never been tuned-up so after installing 6 new plugs code reoccurred pulled #1 coil pack and found no spark, replaced coil with new Napa Echlin coil and still having the same problem except for the coil was hotter than a firecracker. Any Ideas Would Be greatly appreciated.

1) Replace all spark plugs.
2) Replace Ignition Coils with OEM ONLY!
3) Make sure you're replacing the right bank.

4) Check the Ignition Coil harness.

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong but I think our coils fire from a grounding signal from the ECU. Therefore, they have a constant voltage present. Now if by chance the signal wire gets shorted to ground, a continuous current will pass through the primary side of the coil which will definitely cause it to cook.
