With the a/c or heater off, engine warm, coming to a stop and putting the clutch in, how many have noticed the rpm drop below the normal idle (600) to the 400 range before coming back up? ( I removed and cleaned the inner cap area of the IACV but made no difference.) With the air on, the extra load seems to want to hold the rpm from dropping.

Mine too .... it's a 4 gen thing. I think it's do to the EGR or something along those lines. Got bigger fish to fry so I don't pay it any attention anymore.

I've got a 2000 SE with a 5sp. and it does this too. Especially with A/C on it is more noticeable.

that's the opposite, an electrical draw forces higher rpms so the dip in rpms does not occur when a/c is engaged. must be a 4th generation thing.

my rpm goes up a bit actually. i'm set at about 700-750 rpm and with ac it can get to 800-850...recently i found that my a/c is leaking in the car on the passenger side under the glove box :S thankfully its not humid hot anymore so i just roll my windows down.

I have a 5 speed and mine does not do that.Did any of you clean your throttle body? When mine gets dirty it will do that. Then I clean the throttle body and the rpms never drop below idle speed.

Sounds like a good idea. Do you just clean the O opening and the butterfly or what else?

I got a screwdriver and wedged the throttle open near the cables and spray carb cleaner in the throttle body opening. Then i take a microfiber towel and push it as far as I can in to the throttle body with a screwdriver and pull it out with pliers.I spray down the throttle plate and wipe it all down.I do this a few times in a row to make sure I get as much gunk out as possible.Good luck

I think the most thorough is either to disconnect the 2 throttle cables so you dont need a screwdriver to jam and possibly bend things or beyond that, removing the throttle body itself isn't that complicated although may be wise to have a fresh gasket. I used SeaFoam to clean, but didn't remove the tb.

Mine does this as well. TB and IACV are kept clean.

Id say its the IACV. Its a step motor and after time, the original set points become worn. It still works, just slower than it normally shd.

OP--I had the same problem with my AT. Replaced the plugs with NGKs and it went away.

Assume that you are seeing water leaking. The drain that lets condensation water out of the car is probably plugged up, so the pan is overflowing. The tube sticks out below the floorboard just behind the passanger side firewall.
