Camry and Honda wheels interchangeable ??

Hi,

Doesn't anyone know if you can use the wheels from a Camry or an Acura TL on the Maxima ? I mean they both have the same bolt pattern 5x114.3 and I think the offset is also the same if not very close then ? Anyone try it before ??

thx,
Jeff

That is the right bolt pattern. Try to keep the offset somewhere between 38? and 42mm. But i'm sure it'll fit.

Forgot to ask about the hub size diameter. I know that the Nissan wheels are hub centric ? Do other wheels hub hole are the same too ?

thx,
Jeff

the hub diameter on the acura might be a bit too small. the rims off a V6 Accord and Prelude are too small by just a hair.

The TL and Accord use a much higher offset range than the Maxima, check on this before you buy.

The Camry wheels will probably fit. They have a lower offset then the Maxima wheels do, so they may have a tendency to stick out some. Their bolt pattern is the same however. I tried fitting my 97 maxima 16" SE star rims on my mom's 98 camry and the spokes wouldnt clear the brake calipers by less then 5 mm.

All Maximas (at least till '99 for sure) have 66.1mm centerbore, so make sure the other wheels are larger or they won't fit.

A few people have worried about this "hubcentric" thing, but some others have also just allowed the wheelnuts to hold up the wheel without any hub support ("lugcentric" according to Tirerack). This is for 3rd Gens which have tapered (conical) lugnuts (should be same though). I don't know which is right, but so far the lugcentric way guy's wheels haven't snapped off! Maybe someone can findout?

Also, here's the simplest definition of OFFSET: http://www.whalentire.com/faqs.cfm#offset It's measured from the center of the rim, so it's "universal" and doesn't depend on the rim width like "backspacing" does.
