Replaced starter, broke intake resonator, now car won't start!

Hello all. I've F'd up this time. My gf's 99 i30 wouldn't start (just clicked once), battery was fine, so I went ahead and got a new starter and installed it. While putting the air intake back on, I broke the resonator box where it connects to the MAF. No worries, a bunch of duct tape later, I've got everything pieced back together. Well now, the engine cranks, but won't start! Since I'm getting the cranking sound yet I wasn't before, I'm pretty confident that the starter was the original problem, and that's been remedied. Now I'm not sure if it isnt starting because of a vacuum leak, NATS, something else, etc.

To recap:
-when trying to start, engine cranks, cant really hear any firing though but I could be wrong, as soon as I stop trying to start, there is a rattling for a second or two after.
-disconnected MAF, no change
-tried starting from neutral, no change.
-security light blinks when im not doing anything, but it goes off while attempting to start
-left battery off overnight to reset ecu
-broke resonator box, so there may be a leak, but it should still at least start, right?
-new starter just installed

Please help! Last time I broke my gf's car, she hit me with a sock filled with quarters while I was asleep and broke my nose.... Im afraid of what may happen if I don't get this thing fixed asap!

Your issue is nothing to do with what work you did. The starter is obviously turning so that's fine, if it was nats, it wouldn't even crank.

For the 10 millionth time....

NATS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE STARTER CRANKING YOUR VEHICLE.

/rant.

If the intake is the only thing you fooled with then your car should at least turn over for an instant.

Disconnect the whole air intake assembly, unplug the IACV, leave the TPS plugged in and try to start the vehicle, should crank right over w/ no trouble.

If your car is cranking it's brains out and not starting you've accidentally messed with something you should not have (Crankshaft Position sensor maybe?)

Thanks for all the help. I sorted the issue out a few hours after posting this question, and basically there was never really a problem to begin with, other than my being a noob and thinking I had caused more damage than I really had.

Before asking this question, I was cranking the key, but only for about 5 seconds before giving up. I was a little worried that I would eff something up so I wasn't as persistent as I should have been, which is dumb I know. All it took to get started was about 20 seconds of cranking and pumping the gas and boom, started right up. As long as the duct tape on the resonator box holds, I'm in the clear.

Anyways, I don't know why I expected the new starter to crank right up without a little extra cranking and gas, but that's all it took. Sorry for wasting yalls time with my stupid question, but thanks for the replies, and keep your noses clean.

Glad you had it resolved. Though, not to discourage you, 20 seconds seems too long... It should be starting right up with one key turn...

That was just the first time. Been driving on it for 5 days now and it starts right up immediately each time with no problems.
