Things to look out for?

Hey
Im new to the forum and looking into buying a Maxima.
Im looking to buy stock as a winter car, what are some things to watch out for with these cars?

Check the frame crossmember that supports the radiator. They have a nasty habit of rusting out and the engine support crossmember bolts on to this.

Between NATS and coils, I would shy away from 1999.

well from wat others have said, look at the lower radiator support to see if its rusted, sumtimes it depends on where the car spent most of its life at, hot weather or harsh winters. from my experience if its a 95 make sure that the timing chain tensioner is not rattling long after the engine is warmed up. also a common issue is the top plastic portion of the radiator tends to spring a leak after so many years. mine would only do it once it was warmed up until I changed it. depending on how much u are buying it for, make sure your rear valve cover gasket isn't leaking. kinda sorta a short but involved job to replace depending on the model year you have, the 95s don't have all the extra emission stuff so those are easy to do. aside from a few minor issues these cars are reliable and fun to drive!! good luck with your purchase. also a little mechanical know how will take you a long way and save you a ton of money.
