must be me! except i got a warp speed... same thing more less

you can use magnaflow 14827. i considered that one but just bought this vibrant 1146 since it came with an axle back...

http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Vibrant-1146-...ht_2512wt_1271

its only a bit quieter but looks 10 billion times better plus it attract less attention (looks wise) being flat black n stealthy. the maggie is nice too but just shiny stainless.

If you replace the muffler why get it? It will change the sound altogether. A nice sound is impossible with a Cattman Y as it is unequal length. It can sound good but not great

well you get an ebay cat back cause its like 175 plus shipping lol... and you replace the fart can with a nicer muffler so you don't get rice thrown at you. total spent is like 350-400 for a brand new ss304 mandrel bent system

OP if you're looking to make it sound like a G or Z car you'd need to make an equalizing pipe on the shorter runner of the y pipe which won't cost much and the REAL tone of the car will change. the better muffler will only be quieter (them ebay cans don't muffle $hit!) and might refine the current tone.

Actually they sound really nice. The tubing is cheap and thin, thats why you shouldn't get it. Never will it sound like a Z.

i never said they sound bad. its a cat back, it amplifies the current tone set by the engine type and the shape of the exhaust and how the exhaust is set up before the cat.

i could care less. its holding up great for me and as long is its ss304 its better than any thickness aluminized tubing. and if the thickiness scares you then sand the exhaust down a bit and spray on quality exhaust paint.

sure it can sound like a z or g... thats why i want an equal y.

you're telling me this (stock equal y, straight pipe) (especially on the rev down around 0:29)

doesn't sound at all like this?

sure the z is a lil more gurgly but thats a) a vq35de b) rwd vq with the properly setup exhaust not like fwd v6's that require tight bends on 1 runner of a y pipe in order to have equal runners.

im fine with how it sounds now. but a new muffler will make it slightly quieter and more refined like you said. which is good with me.

ive had the catback for a while and just finally installed my ypipe. i love the deep evil sound but im thinking new muffler for looks and for that little refinement. plus i will paint it as to prevent any future surface rust.

i dont want it to sound like anything except a deep loud maxima.

and as far as the hanger on the ypipe - there are no grommets nearby to hang it from? whats the point of it being there? i dont really trust running it without any hangers as im sure the flex section will wear out prematurely due to this.

ive been driving the past 2 days and there are some banging noises when accelerating hard, and going over a bump. not trying to take it to a shop and get another hanger point welded on tho. i have all the old grommets from the old ypipe too. any cheap solutions?

I dont much care about sound other than rasp. I hate rasp and thats all I want to get rid of. What I do care about is having good thick pipes that will last. A simple speed bump will probably bend the ebay piping and break it in half.

BTW the flex wears out because of worn engine mounts. With good mounts it is fine by itself

Almost 2.5 years with zero issues, through two winters and gonna go through it's third this winter. Over many speedbumps as well and scraped over quite a few

You're not hating, just spreading misinformation based on assumptions

id have to agree with chrisman. youre knocking something you have no experience with. if you gave it a try i bet youd like it just fine.

this is in response to my post last night asking about the hangers on the ypipe right? are you sure about that? because my whole exhaust can move more now. and it does bump when i go over big bumps. and that **** scares me yo. i dont want my $400 ypipe wearing out in a year from this

Flex sections are a cheap fix. It's not that big of a deal.

I FOUND THE BANGING. its the flange on the pipe right by the right real wheel. isnt that where the cattman 3" catbacks were banging? i taped a bumpstop to the spot and went for a drive and wouldnt ya know it, no banging.

Ehaust shops have a minimum labor charge and it is usually about $50. You really dont need to brace it. The flex section is there for that exact reason. So the pre flex section can move with the engine and the post flex section doesnt. I still have the original flex on my Cattman and my engine mounts are still OEM and not so good. Get the NWP torque link and in theory it should make the flex last longer but in reality it wears the driver side engine mount more.
