Well it may run but won't be reading as much air, ECU would send less fuel and you'd go lean. Timing would be retarded too. Wiring is different as well.

I wouldn't even try it without a AFC.

It may run but it will be very lean. (I don't remember if my maf settings were stock on the EU when I tried it a year or two ago) But quite honestly the throttle response was incredible, felt like the car wanted to take off like a bat out of hell - even at 2000 rpm. It didn't miss or knock, but I was too scared to got WOT since I had no idea what the AFRs would be like in open loop. In closed loop they were about 17-18.
