Modding a stock Y pipe??
Could someone snap some pis of a 4th gen y pipe minus the heat shields please?
What size pipe is it?
Equal length?
Could the precats be replaced with straight pipe?
Would it flow as good as aftermarket?
Would It be cheaper than aftermarket, and possibly higher quality?

Stock is almost equal length. Cheapest way to get what you want is to buy an eBay y and have an exhaust shop craft an equal length bit. This way the eBay y should fit no problem and you get nice sound

it's possible, but not really worth the effort. i already thought about doing this but the secondary tubing is JUST under 2" and after the merge it's JUST under 2.25". like wes said, it's too restrictive even without the precats. i'll take some pics if you really really want though.
on a side note, i did replace the cat back with mandrel bend 2.25" tubing using the stock resonator and no muffler (dumped after the rear axle). it's not much louder than stock outside but sounds fantastic inside the car! cheap way of making your car sound better, haha.
