2002 16" Rims On A 1998 GLE

I have a chance to pick some of these up at a good price, from what I've researched the bolt pattern matches up, does anybody have a picture of how this looks?

Unless there is a specific reason why you like the 16s (like weight or acceleration), I wouldn't waste the time with that size. IMO, 17 is the minimum you should go with, aesthetically speaking.

Yes the bolt pattern matches up... but why would you want those ugly azz 16's. I HATE them. I have an SE and they were on there for some reason and i cant afford other rims Look at my sig, look at the uglyness.

Stick to 4th gen.... Or donuts..... Or even cinder blocks..... But not those fifth gen ones. The wait is worth it

Why is the bolt pattern even being questioned when going from one Nissan Maxima to another?

There's nothing wrong with 16's

Early 2000 SE's came with 16" wheels because the 17" were not ready yet.

I like the look of the 5th gen 16" 5 spokes, perhaps even over the 4th gen 16". They look similar to Evo5's, which everyone loves.

imo they look like altima fail wheels. i'd much rather have the 4th gen 16" se 5 spokes then those wheels. my .02c

I'm a newbie. Not only to the site but also Maxima ownership. Picked
up a 1997 from my great aunt with 117,000 miles. She bought it new
at the Nissan Dealership in Somerset, KY. I was wondering myself what
is the best UPGRADE as far as Rim and Tire Size? I was wondering which
way to go with the rim size. 16's or 17's? Any other information on anything would
be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!

playing with it!!

Thanks in advance!

Congrats on the good deal - wish I could find one like that with that low of miles (and 5 speed, of course). I'd go 17 for sure. I love the 2000-2001 SE 17s over the 2002-2003 SE 17s because I think the cap makes it cleaner than the exposed lugs. I've also seen some Altima 17s that look pretty good. And as stated above, Murano wheels look good, too. Those are just Nissan options. 1st thing you need to do before wheels, though, is lower it. 4x4 stock maximas aren't good for anybody

Easily the best bang for buck power upgrade would be the Y-pipe.

I hear y pipes arent good for passing smog...how true is this? Also, what about air intake? I ask because I am looking to do some mods on my new 98 GLE as well.

Off topic don't you think? Ypipe has nothing to do with your emissions.....It's been done 10 of thousands times over without any problems....I've personally have done 4 of them myself!

I've had a 2000 Maxima with those 16" 5 spoke rims and they were light and pretty.....But in the same breath those 5th Gen SE 17" rims really look awesome on 4th Gen Maximas.....I'll be swapping my TE SE 17" rims to my 4th Gen soon just to see how they look....The 4th looks so natural with 5th Gen rims!
