broken lug stud replacement?

Hey guys I have a quick question. I was working on my suspension this weekend a bit and I immediately broke off a lug stud in front while taking my wheel off. To clarify I wanted to make sure of the stud size so I can replace it. To my understanding it is 42mm x 1.25? Also, anyone have advice as to how to remove the remaining chunk of stud from my lug? I do not want to buy a whole other spline drive set. Thanks in advance!

As for a tool to use, try Advance, AutoZone, NAPA, and the like, to rent the tool.

Your stud probably broke because it is cross threaded. You can probably get one nut online.

lugnuts can just seize on and break with the stud, its happened to me many times. nothing you can do to prevent it really

i havent done one on a 4th gen before, but use a hammer to smack out the remaining piece of the old stud. then, put the new stud through, and put washers on the front of it. put a lugnut infront of the washers, and tighten the lugnut with a airgun. it'll pull the new stud through, once its tight just undo the lugnut and washers and youre set

Remove wheel, remove caliper/rotor, knock out what's left of the stud, put the new one in, reinstall the caliper/rotor, put a couple washers over the new stud and use a lug nut to pull it through then reinstall the wheel.

^^ perfect how to. couldnta said it better myself.

although i havent done one on our cars, but depending on front wheel or rear wheel, some cars require you to remove the hub to replace a stud on the front. fronts can def be a ***** sometimes.

Thanks a lot guys. And apparently a guy I work with used to do collision so he has some extractor kits I can use to get the stud leftovers from inside my lugnuts. mmm.
