Headlight connectors are corroded..Help?

This problem has occured for the last month.. My headlights keep turning off randomly.. I would jiggle the wires to the headlight connector and it will turn back on, but not stay on.. Especially after turning the car off. I took the bulbs out today and noticed heavy corrosion on one of the prongs for each connector.. If your looking down at it, its the one on the right.. I also noticed the plastic that holds the specific prong is eaten away.. What might have caused this problem? Anyone else experience this? Do I need a new connector and is it easy to install.. How much?? I do notice the wires go into more wires which is covered with electrical tape.. Need Help, Thanks is advance..

I have the Narvas.. I dont think they're higher wattage... I had them for a while now.. I did do a search on the topic but it seems people running higher wattage are having this problem.. Ok, I found the case they come in.. It reads HB1 9004 65/45W..

Corrosion is caused by moisture. I think this is the #1 reason why people with higher wattage bulbs burn out the sockets. Just a slight bit of corrosion will cause some more resistance in the current flow. Resistance+Current(amps)= HEAT.

To keep your sockets clean and corrosion free you need to keep the moisture out. Spraying WD40 in the sockets when you change bulbs is a good way to keep them clean. Also they make an electrical grease you can squeze into the sockets which will keep all the moisture away. You can get electrical grease at Radio Shack or any electronics store.
