Gas pedal too low to Heel-n-Toe?

Gas pedal too low to Heel-n-Toe?
I've been trying to heel and toe in my '96, and I find the gas pedal is too low to reach with my heel with the ball of my foot on the brake...
Anyone else notice this, or am I doing it wrong?

you know whats weird.. my cousin's gas pedal is low also.. so low it feels like the brake and the gas are right next to each other.. and with my size 14 shoes.. i get caught pressing both.. he has a 97 5spd SE.. however.. my car is not like that

Just curious if there is a connection. I cant think off hand if mine is like that too. Or maybe could it be the spring is worn out?

When I first started doing it, I thought the gas was too low too. What I found is that if you are hard on the brakes, the pedal heights are perfect and it is much easier to do than if you use little braking pressure and try it.

i tried the heel-toe technique and the gas pedal is to low (at least for me) what i do now is brake with the middle of my foot turned outward and tap the gas with my toes. it is enough to rev the engine for the lower gear, however it takes practice to get rmp just right

I like the comment about harder braking bringing the pedals more in line - that looks like my answer... I always blip the gas on downshifts even when I'm driving like an angel. I find myself doing that on 'spirited' downshifts also, but I have to choose if I will blip before braking, or during (by letting off the brake). Fortunately, even my most 'enthusiastic' driving is not close enough to the edge of the car's performance for me to need to perfect the technique on the road. Methinks it's time to finally book some track-time at Mid-Ohio sports car course. They have a hi-per driving course where you get to practice that stuff without meeting Mr.

I can heel toe perfectly with my sie 9.5s. Some of you sasquatches need to chop off your toes and get some smaller shoes I think.
