Hard Shifting and Car shutting off

ok so the car runs smooth as ever except for my cat, which the rust has gotten to the flange that connects it with the headers, which has completly rusted out and the bolts no longer hold the threads of the screws.Im thinking i need to drill new holes and put bigger screws and bolts right?...anyways the reason im postin this is cuz recently when im in park and i shift it to drive, i need to put some effort into doing this as its stuck there or something. and when i do it makes a loud bang. anothe thing that happens is that when i put in i reverse, it tends to have higher than normal rpms and the car turns off and since i giv it a lil gas to back u the rpms go even higher and it just cuts off. anyone got any ideas on my 3 questions?
