5 spd Tranny Leak?

5 spd Tranny Leak?

Getting a spot of oil (not engine, brake, steering or clutch) on the passenger side a back of the belt pulleys. Has to be transmission (GL) fluid/oil. So, is there a way to check the level or easy way to top it off? Also, any idea on where that leak is other than that general area? thanks.

Its not your tranny if its leaking from the passenger side. Gear oil has a sulfur smell you can't mistake. Manual tranny has no cooler lines to leak either. This fill plug is at the front of the transmission about halfway up. Remove the plug and stick your finger in. Should be right up level with the hole.
Fill there or at the vss with a funnel and hose.

This is bewildering then as no other fluids / oils are losing level, over any amount of time.

pass side = powersteering line...prob one of the lines on the pump

If it were power steering fluid, wouldn't the reservoir be showing some loss or minimal drainage??!

Sure, but how much fluid are you losing? A spot might only add up to a few drops of fluid.

If you want to find out how much, put a cup under where it leaks and collect it for a few days.

I put a paper under it last night, it appears to be condensation from using the de-froster which apparently is similar to using the AC. There is a drain towards the rear of the engine, passenger side, i believe. If there was some way to clean this or stop the drip, it would be good to know, but the fluid appears not to be oil base. I am not needing to top-up any fluids other than a little brake and clutch, very rarely.

You don't stop this. The AC removes humidity from the air in this fashion. Moisture condenses on the condesnor, and then mwelts away and drains through the tube. Trying to stop the drip would be like trying to plug your tail pipe. Don't worry about it, its normal and designed to do so.
