Time and patience. Transmission fluid. There might be a gasket or two. Its not hard of a job its just involved. A FSM would be very helpful too

Most difficult part is putting the trans in because it's a little heavy. I used rope and a 2x4 piece of wood with some help but using an engine hoist to hold it in place would be the easiest way. Download the FSM factory service manual. It tells you what to do and how to do it with what tools to use.

unbolt the 4 14mm bolts on the torque converter before you remove the trans. never remove the torque converter.

pull the 19mm drain plug then remove all but 2 of the 16 pan bolts leav 2 on each corner of the long side closest to the radiator. this way you will get all of the fluid out of the pan instead of taking a shower.

disconnect the struts and pop out the axles dont remove them.

dont forget the cooler lines going to the radiator.

remove the 4 bolts holding on the mount.

remove the starter and the solenoid connector.

remove the bell housing bolts

then the trans should just come right out

^ pretty much. If you have a working tranny to drop in then its pretty straight forward, just ensure you put in enough fluid before you go for a drive and I mean double and triple check. Although some say it doesn't help, I know it does via before and after temps, I would go ahead and put in an aux tranny cooler not for performance, but for longevity of the tranny and because the stock cooler within the rad is far from efficient. It is a 30min job and costs all of $70. Other than that, I would consider a valve body upgrade if you like spirited driving. Its a bullet proof tranny despite what some say about it and it can hold over 350hp.

CLEAN THE COOLER AND LINES OUT. Brake cleaner and compressed air work good for this.
