New to the Forms, have a question on a 96 Maxima ebay catback and headers.

Hi i have started modding my 96 max, but im trying to buy a catback exhaust and headers from ebay.
1.Wishing there wasn't such a riced looking muffler but is this ebay catback going to sound good and perform well? Or at least like custom maxima's catback?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1995-1999-NI...247dad&vxp=mtr
2.Is this a good set of headers of no?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Exhaust-Head...ac22a6&vxp=mtr
thanks!

Do not buy from custommaxima. The cat-back is fine and will sound good. Dont waste your money on those headers. Cattman is about to start a new batch of y-pipe/headers at about $850. Best you can buy

I bought a 2.5 inch Kensai cat back on ebay for $120. The muffler was crooked, and hung too low. Which wasnt a big deal because I bought it for the piping not the muffler. I had my go to exhaust shop install a Xlerator turbo muffler for $50 muffler included! So for $170 I have a nice sounding exhaust that looks stock.

As far as headers go you will see gains but mostly from the y pipe. Im going to install the shorty headers simply because of the price. I cant see spending $800 on a set of headers for an old daily driven car. Its just not worth it to me. If my car was really nice and I was trying to squeeze every last hp out of it then Id go for it.

If you want to buy those headers and install just the y I would be interested in buying the headers from you. Or you could also just look at the classifieds and buy a good used y pipe for cheap.

Not yet. After I installed my Y pipe I had a few exhaust leaks. The y pipe didnt come with a hanger either so Im headed to the exhaust shop Friday to have a hanger installed, extension/knuckle after the cat replaced with a straight piece and high flow cat installed since it will be on the lift. However when I had the stock Y on it, it sounded deep but still quiet. Its definitely alot louder with the precats gone. Maybe this weekend Ill get a sound clip but Ive got to find my charger for my camera lol.

All you need to do is have a exhaust shop cut the ricer can off the catback and have that muffler installed mine was welded on. Then he extended the tail pipe out even with the bumper. If you don't have welding skills and a good way to cut the piping if just have a shop do it. Like I said I had a cheap turbo muffler put on for $50 muffler included. It won't cost much extra to have it put on.

Headers won't do much for you yet. Get a y-pipe http://www.ebay.com/itm/WARPSPEED-NI...9a5ffe&vxp=mtr to eliminate the pre-cats and get a cat-back. http://www.mandrelexhaustsystems.com...EXHAUST/Detail Has piping kits and you can get any muffler you'd like for example http://www.dynomax.com/mufflers.php?muffler=vt Prices have gone up from what I see. I don't have any experience with the ebay headers so I don't know what to tell you other than the price is tempting. http://www.brmexhaust.com/00-03-nissan-maxima Just keep reading till you def know what you want to spend your money on.

that last catback you posted is the exact same as the first one you posted. and theyre all the same ebay catback that that they sell on custom maxima for a fcukload. you should only pay less that 150 shipped for it MAX. 150 is still lil high but your prices you posted are rickoculous.

me and chrisman are both rockin the ebay catback, which again (all ebay catback are the same cheap catback), its just some need a little adjustment to fit great, and some bolt right up perfectly. they def sound deep and throaty and pretty nice. not loud as ****. but get on it and itll roar.

I have that ebay headers and the catback...like said before you will not get the hanger as your OEM near where your Cat normally is. easy fix to have a shop put a hanger on. It does sound deep and if you put a straight pipe, I have to say it's pretty loud. What I can say is, find one with the small s curve pipe (sensor pipe) that goes right after the cat.

Th ebay headers...I had to remove the studs from on the back side put the header up and screw the studs in and then screw the nuts into those...with a new gaskets there are no leaks there. now the y pipe was hard and just didn't want to line up, to a jack and lossening the headers to get them to fit right..and I think I still have leaks. Will most likely double gasket them just to be sure. I went this route for the shorty headers, due to my plan to boost. If you aren't find the OBX long runners that are selling on Ebay right now and buy those.

Hope that helps.

The catback I ordered(kensai) didnt replace that sensor pipe like i hoped. I ended up having a shop do it. He made a 2.5' straight pipe with flanges, bolted my high flow cat on and put a hanger on the y pipe for $50. I have $330 in my entire exhaust setup, from the y pipe back. Sounds good and Im very happy with it. Still no sound clips but maybe one day.
