98 MAXIMA SE 5SPD vs CHARGER 3.5L on a drag strip

Do you guys think I can beat a 2006 Dodge Charger 3.5L on a drag strip with my 98 Max 5 spd? I think I can given the power to weight ratio, but not really sure.

If you know how to properly shift, then yeah, you're good, depending on the Charger. Is it stock? Stock Charger is HEAVY...

What are your mods? I Raced one at the strip last year, my launch was awful 2.5 60' IIRC, but I reeled him in and ended up running .1 sec faster than him.

Edit: My mistake, it was a 3rd gen v6 challenger that I raced.

The older 3.5 Chargers are pretty slow. Even thou they were 250/250 it just isn't enough to put it in a "performance" category. The newer ones, however, are quite a bit faster, rated at 292/260. They were all 5 speed auto's up until this year in 2012 when they received the 8 speed auto.

The SRT-8 weighs in nearly at 4,400 pounds, so i'm sure the V6 isn't too far behind it.

It is a stock 2006 CHARGER SXT 3.5l 250 hp/250 tq...Mine is semi-stock...I have replaced the 2 front cats with straight tubes, running on 205/60/R16, FSTB, and that's about it. Question: What RPM should I dump the clutch to get the best launch? 2500 RPM? I don't want to be spinning my tires while he gets away or to be weak at launch.

One way to find out.... Take a friend and have them record it. From the stands preferably I wouldnt want the extra weight. Im sure we would all be interested in seeing the results.

Maxima Really isn't fast AT ALL its just a Light Car with a DURABLE Motor! Notthin Fast about a Maxima At all unless its a 6 speed 3.5 4th gen with some Forced induction and even then its Still just a FWD Vehicle..I'm a American Muscle Guy,i love sound, torque and feel of a V8 and back wheel drive. A Max Will never compare.it may out run one in Drag race but still isn't what a muscle car is.
