Whats the cure for intermittent harsh starts in the cold
Whats the cure for intermittent harsh starts in the cold
I have been having some strange starting problems in the winter season so far. I have a 1995 se at 141K and the this is the first winter in three years I have experienced this. The symptoms of the starting is longer crank and sounds like its about to kick over. sometimes I will tap the gas pedal once or twice and that will help it kick over. Once the car is warmed up it is a little better, but it stills will act up once and awhile when warm too. I have been trying different things to try help with the starting problems. I put a new battery in during the fall. I just seafoamed about a week ago and I also try cleaning the iavc too. I made and installed a grounding kit and I try using HEET to maybe help with moisture in the gas. I regularing use injector cleaner too.
I know there the car is old and wont start like a new car, but it has always had a very clean start over the three years. It can be summer or below 0 and no problems. Im just trying to figure out what could.
I have been trying to catch a video of when its real bad
Heres a video of when its a slight hesitation...
I have been searching for awhile and any imput will be appreciated.

well yesterday I have noticed the symptom usually happens after the car has been driven and warmed up, then sits for a for couple hours and gets cold again. If it sits overnight it starts up fine in the mornings.

well i meant to say the difference between sitting for a few hours and sitting all night. I see it act up more when it only sits for a few hours then try to start it again.
Before checking into the FPR...
Have u done a tune up? Clean the Throttle body and MAF. Replace Engine coolant temp sensor and PCV valve and fuel filter.
COuld be the FPR as well, but all of the above can also cause hard starts.

I cleaned my IAVC about 2 weeks ago and checked the throttle body and looked really clean. replaced the MAF and fuel filter over the summer. The coolant temp sensor was replaced about a year ago and I just put a new pvc last week.
