Hello everyone,

I recently got a '98 Maxima which has a rust hole on her right fender. I decided to try removing the rust and patching it up myself. To do that, I plan to remove the entire fender so I could work on the rust beneath the paint. However, I ran into some difficulty trying to remove some bolts.

First off, here is a diagram that shows the location of that bolt. It is highlighted by the red box.

I also managed to get a photo of the underside of that bolt:



I've tried phillips screwdrivers, spanners (no size would fit), even pliers but the bolts just won't budge. I've sprayed some WD-40 on them and am hoping they would be loose by tomorrow. Has anyone encountered a similar problem? I would appreciate some advice on this matter.

That's a 10mm socket. YOu should spray top and bottom to loosen up. Had one of mine break off but not much you can do besides that.

Soak it with PB blaster and then use 10mm socket and a ratchet. It should come off. Unless it is way rusty. Then it might brake

You don't have a socket set? It's not even rusted.....get some basic tools before you go further.

+1 Just make sure you get a metric ratchet set.

He said he took a picture of the other side, so the one he's trying to get off could still be rusted.

I had the same problem with the rust and when I took the fender off I snapped one in the door jam.
