Horribly stupid question

I have an automatic, by accident when I wasn't looking I put it in first and when I realized it wasn't in drive I let off the gas. It had a cool tone to it like a manual would. I did it a few more times but only up to like 2 1/2 rpms on a busy street because it backfires louder and makes a nasty tone. I've never done it before and won't because this is my daily and I can't afford to mess it up. But does this burn oil or mess anything up badly? Makes me wish I had an stick shift...

Your wishing is right my fellow maximorger...I love the sound and feel of my 5spd Max when shifting from 2nd to 3rd at 4000 RPM on a spirited run

Sadly, not good on an AT.

Ok thanks guys! Yeah, I did it down the street and the guy goes "Dude....watch out for cops, that's REALLY Loud" Seems like it takes a lot to make an auto loud.

And @ Reality Sucks, dude.....NICE max man.

Perhaps some reading or education is needed here.

Looooool... It's holding it in gear 'like a manual' hahaha :P so basically when u let go.of gas its engine breaking and.not using fuel which can make a snap crackle n.pop, it's normal and fine :-)

Ok if that's the case I've been taking VERY good care of my engine/trans lol.

What about bouncing it off the rev limiter? Lmao

shift at 6-6.5k rpms if your going to get that close to the redline. It sucks when the car jolts hard after you redline it
