Bad climate control?

Hey everyone my 4th Gen climate control is acting weird....The 1-3 settings don't work at all but the 4th blasts like it's suppose to...also my rear defogger doesn't defog my windows...Once I put my car back together "cleaning the interior" Im gonna plug everything back up and check if air is going back there. I'd appreciate any tips & help....Thanks

There is a part to fix the air. Not too hard to do.
I believe it's a resistor, but I'll double check the name of it.

As far as your rear defrost.
Check your fuses first, then check the wires on the rear window. Make sure nothing seems out of the ordinary; cuts/breaks.
Your rear defrost works by heating up the small wires in the window, afaik.

Edit: Your looking for a manual blower motor resistor to make your blower fully function.

Thanks for the help! Now just to find it & install it ; I figured someone would say the fuses but i'll test that sometime this week then get back to you

^^advance auto has it for around $30 iirc.
I believe there is a youtube video on it to.
I think you need to remove your glovebox, but I'll see if I can find that video.

Edit:
No need to remove the glovebox.

does the rear defroster actually not work...or the little orange light that tells you it's on never comes on? That's a simple moomentary switch, it doesn't have a detent to tell you if it's pushed in or not...

The rear defroster light comes on like it's suppose to for approximately 15 Mins then it goes off... But the window still stays fogged up

ok, good. That tells you the switch itself is working properly. Now you need to check the fuses for the defrost system, also check relays. Look in the FSM for where you should be looking, and at what. Sounds to me like whatever controls the heating portion of the defroster is inop.

Have you done anything recently to your rear window? Tint? Scrape anything? Closely inspect the rear window defrost wires, see if you can see any breaks.

Cool i'll check that out probably tomorrow when I head over to my friend's house to continue working on her ; Personally I wouldn't know, just picked her up on Saturday & while driving back I noticed it wasn't working properly but from what I can see there's no cracks or anything + no tints

The rear window defogger works as follows:
button in defroster switch is pressed.
switch connects BCM pin 26 to ground.
BCM energizes defogger relay.
relay contacts close and power is sent to light in defogger switch and defogger in the window.

There is a connector for the defogger element in the C pillar (space between the rear window and the rear door) on the passenger side. This connector has 2 wires, a blue/red stripe from the relay and a short black wire that screws to the body.

Because the light in the defogger switch lights up, we know that the BCM and the defogger relay work. The power for the defogger comes through 2 20 amp fuses, # 38 and # 39. these 2 fuses are in the right-most column of fuses, the 2nd and 3rd from the top.

If the fuses aren't blown, then you will have to check for voltage. Since you say you have put the interior together, maybe you damaged a wire harness. I think the wire for the defogger runs under the rear seat cushion, but I am not certain. Worst case, you may have to get to the connector in the C pillar to do a viltage check.

Wow....Best explanation ever...But yeah let me rephrase what I said again lol I bought the Maxima saturday & was driving it home, needed the fogger. I pressed the button....the light came on but it didn't clear the window. So as you said the climate control is working. Sunday I went to take the interior apart to clean it off & such when I noticed that a power amp wire was ran from the engine bay to the trunk. So what i'll do is check the fuses then get back to you

After 15 or 16 years outside, I wouldn't be too surprised.

But a tip when you get the correct part. DO NOT plug the new one in and run the fan unless you have the resistor screwed into the duct. Those things get very hot and will burn out right away unless air is blowing on that metal heatsink.
