What part of my intake am I missing?

So I bought my new 1997 Nissan Maxima SE 5 Speed *Maxeen* & I was looking in the engine by and noticed that I had a HUGE space where a part of my intake should be...Does anyone know what the piece is called?

*Excuse the crappy battery I only bought it so I could drive it from point A-B after buying it*

It is missing the resonator and the connecting pipe.

See the lower left corner of this drawing:

Thanks everyone for the info but iv'e been doing some research and I found out that some people do this as a mod.....But to make sure we're talking about the same thing....With this removed I have no power loss or gain & it just sounds good when I go WOT? Also if I plug it up i'm not really doing anything wrong correct?
