What's preferred for replacement spark plugs? Original NGK PFR5G11 platinums? Are Bosch PLATINUM IR FUSION plugs OK or is it best to stick to the OEM?

NGK...You'll most likely NEVER hear or see anyone here say anything else. When they do it's because of a bad experience so they switch back to....*drum roll*...! NGK

 

The copper NGK V Power plugs worked like a charm on my '99 Maxima.

Thanks boys. I know from experience elsewhere that DI systems can be particular to the OEM plug... and maybe the coils last a bit longer with them.

It's OEM for me.

 

NGK, like everyone else said. I just want to add, DON'T use bosch plugs in any Japanese cars.

 

Is there really a difference between the NGK plugs themselves? Everyone says "NGK plugs are the best choice" but do the Standard, V-Power, G-Power, Laser Platinum, OE Laser Iridium, and the Iridium IX differ significantly?

 

Cu doesn't last as long, Pt lasts a little longer, IX lasts the longest. This question seems to have been answered before, I can recall.

I use copper since they're easy to change and are cheaper, and you get a chance to play with your car. If I had a penny for every time I've typed that on this forum, I'd be rich.

Power difference is negligible.
Change interval difference is significant.

Platinums will last twice as long as coppers. Iridiums should last longer than plats, but twice as long?

Despite all that, coppers have the best electrical properties. They don't last but give one hell of a spark.

Used NGK V-power copper in few of my Maximas. Never had an issue.

 

I use coppers because they are the most conductive and I trust in the spark better than the other technologies. The change intervals also forces me to keep up on the maintenance of the car because I usually end up changing other maintenance items and checking things while I do them.
