Good bye Maxima.org

Well after I sold my white 4th gen and wrecked my i30 just a few weeks ago. I no longer own a Maxima... I bought a 1985 200sx with a KA24DE motor and 5speed swap. It's a fun little car and the swap is solid.

I owned a 1987 200Sx for 3 years that was fun to play with. It didn't have much HP but it reached 60 much faster than these family sedans. Good luck with her.

That's one helluva nice 200sx. Sorry to see you go

Whats the difference between that KA24DE and the one in the 96-2001 ALTIMA? Besides rwd, of course.

Will a vq30 fit between those strut towers?

With the KA it's actually faster then my Maxima was with headers and full 3" exhaust. This thing is by no means a slouch.

I don't think much of anything is different. Not sure though. I'm still new to the KA and the workings of Nissan 4cyl Engines.

This one does have a JWT ECU, 4-2-1 headers, and 3" exhaust with Custom Magnaflow. That probably adds a bit of power.

Lots of different engines will actually fit. Since I've joined the s12 forums I've noticed a couple of guys with VQ's, SR20DET's and even an RB26DETT.

If you move the radiator you could probably squeeze just about anything in this.

Nice ride, I've thought about picking up a 200sx a couple times. What happened with the older max you were working on?

My dad was going to give me his '85 Maxima but then of course after I'd dumped almost $400 into it to get it running good again he changed his mind and wanted to keep it.. Go figure. Regardless I'm happy he changed his mind because I wouldn't have ended up with this thing which I love to death. Did I mention it gets insanely good MPG?

Highway this beast gets 30+ MPG. City it gets about 26 or less. Since I just bought it and it's fast I'm still having fun with it, so it's hard to tell what MPG I get city.

When I bought it I drove it back from Rock Springs, Wyoming which is about 250Miles from my home in Salt Lake City, Utah. I filled up the tank with premium in Rock Springs and made it all the way home on 1/3 tank of gas so about 6 gallons of fuel.

Does it specify premium? If it doesn't then you might get even better mileage if you downgrade to 87 octane.

OK you have JWT ECU.....my bad

Yeah with the JWT ECU I'll want premium.

nah just boost it. KAs+boost is actually a pretty good combination if you are sticking under 350whp, which is really plenty for most KA equipped cars.

That is pretty much the plan later down the road. You can properly boost a KA on a pretty low budget and make ample power. Enough to go sideways effectively anyway.. and that's all you need in a RWD car.

Niiiice I've never seen that before! 200sx i picture the fwd sr20 sporty mid nineties sentra thing... I though it was an mk3 supra for a sec.

I agree with crusher... Iron block on that can take enough abuse, check out sport compact car They did a ka-t build a year before they went modified mag. Plus I'm sure there are a lot of ka-t kits out there now

I think last time I was at the pump a full tank was $45 with premium at $3.55 per gallon.
