97 5sp max losing to 5sp Accord??

Based on my understanding, a 5sp 4th gen w/190 HP will be pretty much be even with a 200 HP manual 99' accord when going 0-60. They have similar weights.

What do you guys think would happen?

97 5spd max should normally win, providing the driver knows how to drive stick simply because the 99 Accord did not come with a manual transmission If it is a 5spd, it is a 4 cylinder 145-150 hp engine. Which even an automatic 4th gen should beat

I think that site has a typo.
I'm pretty positive the V6 Accords have NEVER been paired with a 5 spd yet.

If the accord V6, with 200 HP ever did come with in 5speed, I think us maxima drivers would be ****ting in our pants.

The only 5-speed available on the Accord is on the 4 cyl. All v-6's only came with auto.....but this year, the Acura (nee:Honda) CL Type-S is available with a 6-speed. (But we already have the 6 speed ) It may not be too long before the manual tranny trickles down to the Honda.

4th Gen Maxima owns every single Accord(they have like 30 freakn trim lines) in performance. In no instance should a Maxima lose stock vs. stock. If that person loses, they should be sent to the corner perminently.

Perhaps you didn't see my videos?

Of the ones where I race an Accord?

I'm not proud of the fact, but there is no such thing as "in no instance".

You are kidding, right ? A Civic SI will run about 16 flat 1/4th considering it's a good driver.

If it's a perfect driver you should win but it would be close. You have a faster car. If you raced into triple digits you should rail him.

A stock automatic Max will lose to a 5spd Civic SI

Civic SI only come in 5spd, so don't know why you bother listing it.

I wouldn't say all stock automagic Maxima will lose to a Civic SI. Depends on how well the SI is driven by the driver too. Deezo ran a 15.6 IIRC...all stock. So, never underestimate a Maxima.

Their seems to be a considerable difference in performance between the 99 and 2000 civic si

Year Make Model 0-60 1/4 sec 1/4 mph Transmission Graph! Source Date
2000 Honda Civic SI 7.9 15.9 88 Manual Web 1/31/2001
1999 Honda Civic Si 7.1 15.7 88 Unknown

So I would say it would be impossible to tell, but if your goin to race the 00, you'd win (if those stats are accurate, and since your not racing a pro)

The fastest STOCK 99 Civic SI I know on there time slip on a 1/4 is 15.1,,, but I forgot what MPH. I say it would be close from stock vs stock on a 99 Civic SI vs MAX 4th Gen. I just say whom ever get the best react time on take off will get the best of the race.

Now as for the Accords the V-6 only comes with an AT .. the 4 cyc Accords came w/ 5spd's

I wouldn't call those times equal to pro drivers. I've seen several timeslips of stock civic SIs running 15.2-15.9 @ 87-91mph. Hell I seen some SI's hit 14.6-14.9 @ 92-93mph with I/H/E. To this day I haven't seen an automagic pull more than 92mph NA in trap.

I ran a 15.3 @ 88 mph in my friends 99 SI.

Accord V6s don't come in 5 speeds, and if they did, I still wouldn't be scared.

Not with our new 220 and 255 hp 5 and 6 speeds . Keep in mind, thats all flywheel horsepower. Not at the wheels. The hondas could lose more power then us because my auto 95 has eaten up many v6 accords. even when it was stock.

the v-6 accord was never paired with a manual tranny. also the honda/acura v-6 motors are all single cam with the exception of the NSX . as far as worrying about them getting a 5sp i am not too concearned they either a: have a govorner or b: run out of steam at 130mph. i have outrun v-6 accords w/ my VE without any hp mods.

Exactly. I dont know where these 16's come from for SI's. You can go by magazine specs, its nothing but a # that gives you an idea.

Its like saying, well the Mag said a 4th gen max runs 16.0 stock.. uhh well, many of us run waaaaay faster then that stock. The same can be said for SI's.

My friend has 00 SI w/ I/H/E and i have done pulls and stayed even and even pulled half a car once. Yet im a modded auto and no i didnt spray.

I have seen stock SI's run as fast as low 15's. Im sure there are a few guys who have pulled them into 14's stock. Cant be possible? THat is like saying a Max cant hit 14's stock (5spd).

ANd The 98+ Accords w/ V6 did not come in 5spd. They were autos. Im sure there are some Accords that can run good times stock. Again, same can be said about the Maxima.

Ummm...no- those engines (like every Honda) have no torque, and they don't wind nearly as fast as the VQ does.

OK OK. let's say there's a bone STOCK 95 GXE vs. a STOCK '00 civic Si that's just been lowered. Who will win???

Well...

It all depends on the Maxima's transmission. Were it an auto, it would be close but the Maxima will most likely lose. Were is a 5spd, the Civic will be worked (and there are plenty of videos to support that).

Do you think I would've lost to that Accord? I don't think I would've.
