Nissan used the same alternator in the 4th & 5th gens, so the harness is the same.

So I just got my harness today from the local junkyard it came out of a 2k Maxima....The only thing is my harness only had the connector for the alternator but a extra loose wire hanging off of the it...I got this one & the guy said the extra connector came off the a/c compressor....What does this connector do & where do I connect it?

My 97 has the 2 connectors on it and the second connector (the longer wire) plugs onto the a/c compressor. My best guess is that the wire is for the a/c compressor clutch. I'm thinking that your wire broke off of the connector that is on the a/c compressor.

I did the exact same thing when I got my alt tested at autozone. Went to the junkyard and got a *new* one. The smaller longer clips goes to your ac compressor, the bigger shorter one goes the the alt.

P.S.
Hook the harness to the alternator before you install the alt. It can be a **** getting that clip on/off the alt when its bolted in.

+1. Pretty sure he will see it when he removes the old one unless he does not have an A/C compressor or the harness was cut and his A/C doesn't work and never decided to troubleshoot the problem.

I need another harness because the one that I got wasn't correct. I called a junkyard yesterday but apparently they don't sell the harness...Just the parts -____- NJ sucks & thanks I figured out the a/c part yesterday afternoon thanks to everyone

You can make that harness work since it has the male connector on the one plug. This is if you still have your old harness.
