P0135 Bank 1 Sensor 1 Cali spec
So I'm looking to replace the o2 sensor of my 99 SE Cali Spec
This is what I found from searching the forums:
Bank 1 is located next to the firewall Cylinders 1,3,5
Bank 2 is located towards the front of the vehicle Cylinders 2,4,6
Where is there an o2 sensor by the firewall? Which one am I supposed to replace?
And are there a big difference between the fed spec and cali spec o2 sensors? I don't want to buy the wrong one.

you would have to get under the car to see it . there is 4 on the cali spec cars . sensor 1 is the one closest to the motor . there is different numbers for the fed spec one. this link will take you to a diagram its for the 2000 max but its the same for the cali spec max (99) . http://forums.maxima.org/4th-generat...-pictures.html

Here is a link to a picture of the y-pipe. It is from the 5th gen forum but your 99 is the same for this. Scroll down about 3 screens for the picture.

thanks, lifesaver as usual.
As for the sensor, should I get an universal fit where I have to splice the wire? Or just one with a harness should be easier and worth the price
Something like this at Autozone:
Part Number: 15726
Warranty: 1 YR
Application: With California emission
Left up-stream sensor (located before catalytic converter)
Notes: Universal fit

rockauto.com is about half the price of AZ.
STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS Part # SG285 $35.79 +shipping
The one I bought was boxed Standard, but made and stamped by NTK.

There is a chance both are legitimately bad, but the O2 code will ALWAYS trigger a phony KS code.
BTW $7 Ebay Knock sensors work well and have not proven to be any lesser quality than OEM.

wow turned out that was the most difficult one to access. I still couldn't see and follow the harness on the way up.
Is the connector for Bank 1 Sensor 1 near the firewall by the first coil? If count starting from the passenger side
This should be the same location:
