97 gxe auto no start

Ok I have a 97 gxe auto and it needed a new engine. So I swapped it out and it didnt want to start. so I did my trouble shooting and I found I wasn't getting any spark. So I pulled the transmission off and sanded the mating surfaces on the transmission and the engine. I changed the battery negative side and ground wire with brand new one's and I added a ground to the transmission to the body of the car and still no start. So I sprayed starter fluid in the manifold and it started a little bit but not all the way and when im cranking it I have 0 rmp??? I changed crank sensor in the front of engine/transmission still same thing. What would cause the 0 rmp problem??

It gets rpm when I spray starter fluid but after the engine dies down its 0 rmp after that. So you think a bad ecu?

Guess not......but before I pulled the transmission and sanded the mating surface I got rpm on crank. I dont hear the fuel pump prime at all even after I swapped it out with another one.

ignition switch or relay? i know that the cam position sensor will keep you from turning over i dont think it will pop up a CEL but if you check your codes you could see if that is the problem. it sounds like your problem is something electrical that isnt connected or has a bad connection. clean your MAF as well just because.
