Short lived??? Wrecked the max

Well i was hit in the max today. I swear the dude was driving faster than the 25 mph speed limit but anyways. Heres some damage pics

Besides body work, if anybody noticed the wheel and how its sitting. What am i looking at as being the possible reason its sitting like that?

Also am i better off repairing or parting it out?

Looking at your 2nd photo, the wheel has way too much positive camber. I would guess that the axle is bent or maybe the spindle.

Sorry about your ride. At least you were not hurt. The same thing happened to our 4th gen on the drive r's side, but with more damage that extended into the rear door. The wheel was also pushed forward. Our car was actually parked on the street and the person driving the other car reached down for his cell phone....ended up swerving just enough to hit the car.

Your rear beam is toast. The negative camber looks sick though.

That + rear quarter work = a loss. It's gonna be totaled out.

Man you got a busted max and people on the forum are already putting dibs on parts xD

But in all seriousness man our cars are too old you'd be at a loss if you were to try to restore it

The wheel in the damaged area has scuffs on it. Other than that it looks to be ok, no breaks, or bends that i can tell.

As for other areas on the car, normal scratches a few small dings here and there. The normal for a 16 yro car. I have it parked at the wifes grandparents house so I still have to see if they will let us part it while sitting there.

If not though, anybody know what we could get for it the way it sits. Just a round about figure?

Not necessarily a total loss, If you can find a back yard body shop, it may not be too expensive to fix. I bought a wrecked 91 chevy beretta 5speed, still drove good, but it was wrecked in the rear pass quarter panel, shock was damaged, and frame had to be straighted, welded, rear bumper replaced ect. In all I paid about $500 for parts and labor and paint to fix the damage on a car I got for $500, but its up to you, if you like the car I say fix it, if not sell it as a whole parts car.

If my car ever got "totaled" like that I would make it a track car. 24 Hours of lemons baby. Maybe swap the drivetrain into an early sentra or do a mid engine econobox. No reason to not have fun with your loss.

The guys are right regarding it being totaled. The price to fix it will be more than the car is worth. You can always find a mom & pop body shop to do the repairs & paint it for a lot less though.

Like stated above, junkyards are a good place to get parts from. On my 5th gen I ended up getting a hood from the junkyard after someone backed up into it. The repairs on that were quoted at $4,900 at the nissan dealer. Some other front end parts were damaged too. I ended up paying about $1800 at the shop, parts & labor. The shop will reuse parts that can be. The dealer wanted to put in a new HID just because the plastic piece where a screw goes to mount it was cracked. Still totally able to use it though.

Price it out to see how much it will run you.

whoa whoa whoa.

The only way YOU could be found at fault is if YOU were eitther turning across lanes of traffic or if you were turning right, across another lane...with that damage.

How were you at fault?

I was found at fault by turning into the road and the guy that hit me came racing out of the street above. He never slowed down never hit his brakes at all. When i started to turn he wasnt there, i know this for a fact and have witnesses that told the officer that the guy looked to be going faster than he should aswell as how i was beginning my turn before he even pulled out. I still got stuck with failure to yield r.o.w I was almost fully out of the road and he slammed me.

Im 30 and can honestly say this is my first wreck ive ever been in where i was the driver

It was labeled as my fault. I simply didnt see the car coming. Ill take that responsibility. Now its just waiting on the adjuster to figure out the damage and wether to part it or sell as whole. I have a potential buyer for the whole thing, but my wife is set on doing a part out at the moment. If i part it out i guess ill have a nice thread to post here on the org. Lol.

Win some you lose some. Important part is nobody was hurt. So thats the big thing

As for repairing we just dont have that kind of cash floating around. With 4 kids things are definately to hard to be able to afford that

Yeah, I don't see how it was seen as your fault. That's clearly the other person's fault. 25 MPH would not cause that amount of damage. But at least you're OK. I'm sure you'll sell most of the parts from it. I've noticed a lot of the people on here are like vultures. Haha. But depending on the cost of some of the parts and what you have, I might be interested in a few things as well. Good luck with getting everything back in order.

I see what you're saying..HOWEVER, from a legal standpoint...speed of the other person is not relevant if you pull out in front of them. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that you have adequate clerance to pull into or out of the right of way.
