Vibration at 65 to 75 MPH

I've noticed a bad vibration in my steering wheel when going 65 to 75 MPH. It's most noticable when my foot is on the gas pedal. The tires are new and I've had them balanced twice thinking that would solve the problem. The engine seems fine (205K+). Since I notice it more when my foot is on the gas pedal, could it be that the engine is sputtering at a certain RPM that's not noticable when driving under 65 MPH? Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Sounds like a wheel bearing or ball joint.

If its not what was mentioned above, try getting them rebalanced. I had to get my wheels rebalanced literally like 7 times before they got it right...

Fwiw, my vibration got really noticeable above 70.

I had the same problem @ 75. If it clunks while you turn its your cv joints.

Did you notice the vibration before you got the new tires?

check the above items, but if you are a little mech inclined check to see if you have loose suspension componets under the car, ball joint nut, axle nut, strut nuts ect. My wheel was shaking once and I had 2 loose strut bolts, problem solved.

Also, make sure the lugs are torqued to spec. I had that problem for years and one day I decided to use my torque wrench to lock them down and most of my vibration problems went away.

How are your struts? My indie solved the same sort of problem by replacing my struts afer checking balance, bearings, brakes, etc.
