Bad knock sensor?

Ok, well i'm pretty sure i have all the symptoms of a bad knock sensor like 200mi to a tank of gas and real bad low end power.

But, what confounds me is i did the self check ecu thing for any codes and got nothing and sometimes it would like fail intermittently like one day it would have all it's power and on another day it would be slow and sluggish.

I took it out today to check what it looks like and it had two bulges on the sides. So, i was thinking about replacing it but i just wanted to hear from you guys.

Also, fwiw i did the HAI mod. Thanks again!

Have you hooked a scanner up to it?

No, I haven't had the chance to connect a scanner to it. You think it'll make a difference?

Got it....I actually used the self check method quite few times with my 96. Including when I changed out my KS.

Your obviously getting hesitation. For me it was pretty noticeable when maintaining a constant speed....I would feel the hesitation there. You are sure that you didn't reset the ECU by mistake?

Yeah, I can definitely feel the power loss I've done the self check thing plenty of times before with o2 sensors and what not. So, i'm pretty sure i didn't reset the ECU.

Maybe try testing the sensor itself with a multimeter.

Here's a video, while its for Lexus, it has good tips.

Thanks for the vid blackmax but, I had my friend who had a multimeter test it for me and said it was way out of spec lol. So, looks like I'll be looking for a new ks. Hopefully it works!

I've been using the cheapest ks on ebay >$10 over a year, no problems.
