More 5th gen than 4th gen viewers?

Has this been going on for a while?

Have I been out of this for that long?

There are a lot of similarities between the 4th & 5th gens, especially in the chassis and drive line. So watching both forums can be helpful.

Good point.

I'm actually drawn here for a 5th gen (wife's car) problem.

People, in general, often buy the newest car they can afford given their budget, especially those who want to add a second car, or back up car, to the family. Additionally, a lot of first time drivers buy/receive a car around the 5k-6k mark, and the 5th gen Max now falls within that sweet spot price wise. Plus, I imagine the 5th gen has now become a hand me down from parents to child, given it's age. Given those 3 factors, the 5th gen Max is very attractive.

I have a feeling that in about 3 years, the 4g forum will have very low activity levels like the 3g forum.

About 3 or 4 years ago, if you started a thread here in the 4g forum, it would be on page two within an hour or two because we had so much activity. Now stuff stays on page 1 for days.

This is true but I think the 4th gen forum will not die down until the VQ is drastically redesigned or is no longer in existance. Although my mother has an 06 pathfinder and Nissan mails here specials, the specials apply to all cars 95 and up because that's when the VQ originated.

You could also blame it on attrition, the 4th gens are now between 14 and 18 years old. That is a lot of seasons, chances of rust, or worse yet... accidents. I am sure a good percentage of those that end up at the junk yards and the "crushers" still have engines that run pretty well. It seems the bodies themselves don't fair as well.
