Cheap antenna mast

I replaced antenna mast with a Chinese made eBay one last year, the cord was broken couple of weeks ago so I ordered another one, again from eBay, this time, the item is described as OEM one. Well, today it arrived and when I was trying to install it, the motor just pull the the entire cord out of the antenna, so it can still raise the antenna up but cannot retract the it. I send email to the seller to see if he can send me another one. It sucks that without antenna, I cannot listen to the local traffic and news on AM channel, all I can hear is noise.

I mean all of this to avoid spending $40 at the dealer for a new antenna mast that will raise and retract? I know times are hard but doing the same job over and over and keep spending money is out of my scope.

Damn man, sucks. To the guy who said to get it for $40, not worth it.

What happened to you is not normal, my ebay mast worked perfectly along with countless others on the forum. So just re-do the job and chalk it up to bad luck.

I bought mine from this place in the U.S. 3 years ago, no problems. Great place, how-to videos, phone support.

Only $12 plus shipping.

I know this sounds pretty ghetto, but I bought a long metal dowel rod and stuck it down the hole and wedged a screw in it. and unplugged the power antenna plug. That's if you want to spend less than $3 fixing your car.

That's what happened to my eBay antenna as well.

This is where I buy mine as well.
Have probably bought at least 10 of them with no issues.

Did both of your masts go completely down?
It sounds like you have part of your orginal mast stuck in the antenna tube yet since the cords shouldn't break

Well when I bought the car, It didn't have the antenna at all, looked like it was broken off or something. So I went to ebay and got an antenna, well the motor ate the string, and I lost the antenna. So I went with the metal dowel rod, it works and it's stable.
